Biography
CV
Dr. David Donahue is a board certified general surgeon. He performs a wide variety of surgical procedures and has a special interest in both robotic surgery and trauma. Additionally he is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Donahue was born and raised in Longmont. He received his undergraduate degree from University of Colorado in Boulder and his medical degree from Midwestern University – Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his general surgery training at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia.
After completing his training, he served as a general surgeon in the US Navy. He spent two years providing surgical care to marines and sailors in Okinawa as well as providing mobile surgical support across Southeast Asia for various exercises. After returning to the United States, he deployed to Afghanistan where he cared for combat injured soldiers and coalition members at the NATO Role III Multi-National Medical Unit in Kandahar.
Outside of work, Dr. Donahue enjoys spending time with his family enjoying what Colorado has to offer. He loves to spend time in the mountains hiking, skiing and just enjoying the outdoors. He is both excited and proud to be able to have returned to his hometown and provide care to the community in which he grew up.
Dr. Donahue understands that the need for surgery can be a stressful and often frightening time for patients, no matter how minor or complex the procedure. Because of this he feels that it is important to partner with his patients and ensuring that they completely understand the care plan and that they are comfortable moving forward with surgery.
He sees patients in the Longmont office on the Longmont United Hospital campus.
